Since the word contact means to squeeze together, it seems only logical that a contraction is two words made shorter by placing an apostrophe where letters have been omitted. Examples of common contractions in the English language include:
I'm: I am
Can't: can not
We've: we have
She'll: she will
He's: he is
They'd: they would
Won't: will not
Weren't: were not
Wasn't: was not
Wouldn't: would not
Shouldn't: should not
Isn't: is not
Technically speaking, contractions aren't necessary in written English. Using the full version of a word is always grammatically correct. However, there are a number of reasons why contractions do serve a valuable stylistic purpose. For example:
Contractions make your writing seem friendly and accessible. They give the appearance that you are actually "talking" to your reader.
When writing dialogue in a novel or play, contractions help reflect how a character actually speaks.
Contractions help to save space when preparing advertisements, slogans, and other written works that must be short and to the point.

America the Beautiful: What We're Fighting For

This article by Dinesh D'Souza explains a lot about how and why America is the top nation of the world. I really liked this essay because it shows the difference between America and the rest of the world and how we innovate and make things instead of being lazy and relying on things that might go out of date.

I also liked the fact that he said that many of the other countries that are communist or socialist make fanatics instead of normal working people that can reason.

Research rough draft

Evaluating Pharmaceutical Companies
Over the past decade there have been many changes to the United States economy as a whole. One of the front runners of change and innovation is the pharmaceutical industry, but many are wondering if this innovation is taking an adverse affect on the rest of the economy. One of the biggest concerns for economist and politicians is the rise in health care cost and prescription drug costs. Many people are looking to the government for help all the while looking over the pharmaceutical companies that have the biggest impact on the cost of healthcare. At some point in time we will all need prescription drugs. The owners of these companies know this very well, and they take advantage of our sickness in order to make their profit margins sky rocket. In an evaluation of some of the top pharmaceutical companies many have come to see that they fool consumers into thinking that many of the new drugs are big breakthroughs, but in reality they are the same drug we had before. These companies spend more the twice the amount of money on marketing and advertising then on the research and development of a new drug. These costs they put on the consumers backs saying they need the money to make better drugs.

there are a couple of different rules for starting a new paragraph. First is if you are writing a dialogue; when you switch speakers you should start a new paragraph. Also when you are writing an essay and want to emphasis a point or change a subject you need to start a new paragraph.
